Decent Sports spirits

In 1984? Clarke road secondary school , the Clarke road Trojans in London Ontario Canada  in sports won senior high school hockey football and basketball ball championships all in the same year. With the hockey team winning gold at wossa. The only school in the whole world, as far as I know or have googled it, to actually win all three championships or rather THE TRIPLE CROWN in all three sporting competitions in only one year. I’ll tell ya. A lot of sporting accomplishments are impressive . But , that sporting accomplishment? The Clarke road Trojans high school teams accomplished that year? In 1984? That’s quite a feat. Around the time my sister and brother attended Clarke road. And my sister was student council president. Around that time. There’s was a sports spirit among those east end london high school kids thats truly rarely seen in sports. It seemed like an unbeatable sports spirit. Unique.  powerful . the determined sports curriculum of that high school in the year 19...

Picturing time backwards

Took a walk near clarke road secondary school the other day. Just reminiscing. The area and school generally look the same as it did when I was a kid. Roaming the grounds. Until you get to the argyle mall. And view the general geography’. As I reminisce. Neither the mall or the land geography is the same as it was in the 1970s and 1980s. It’s weird how it changed. In my opinion. The woods were vast . Now their narrow. Behind Clarke road secondary school too. And it’s legendary Woolco hill is now nothing at all but a long gone sweet distance memory. And on that note? Just for the appropriate sake of record? While I’m on this topic? I have to say this. If only I had thought to take pictures of that legendary hill and it’s legendary now gone woods behind the argyle mall where I had so much great fun as a kid with so many of my childhood friends before the city choose to remove the woods and hill from that spot of my childhood and placed condos and town houses their. For the purpose o...

Toppling a Laurier high school power house

Toppling a lauerier rams high school hockey power house in 1991. Evaluating. A letter I wrote to my brother and sister recently. Evaluating interesting yet mostly unknown sports history  In 1990. Interesting Trojan statistic . In senior high school hockey? Probably The best team in the whole country was the Laurier rams high school senior hockey team. Including the regular season and tournaments they went undefeated . Except for one game. Clarke road barely managed to beat them . But the Trojans somehow squeaked out a win against the rams. Winning 4-3. The rams peppered the Trojan goalie Tim grant with 60 shots that game. They were a big team. The whole Laurier team were big kids. I was actually surprised. They looked like a football team in size. That year. Too. Ranked Number one in The whole province. The whole year. In the other regular season game they engaged in with dirt road they crushed the Trojans 6-1. Now, Jeff and Winnie? Just so you know? Thats saying a lot. Becau...
